The Geraldton Womenβs Shed is a safe and inclusive space where women can come together to learn, share and grow.
Through DIY workshops and educational sessions, we aim to provide practical skills that promote independence, confidence and community.
Building a Stronger Future for Women
The History and Purpose of Womenβs Sheds in Australia
Womenβs Sheds have emerged across Australia as safe, welcoming spaces where women can gather to learn new skills, support each other, and build a sense of community. Inspired by the success of Menβs Sheds, these spaces are designed to empower women by providing hands-on learning experiences in DIY, trade skills, and personal development.
The Australian Womenβs Shed movement is dedicated to addressing gender disparities in skill-based education, offering opportunities for women to gain independence and confidence in traditionally male-dominated areas such as woodworking, home maintenance, and mechanical repairs. These Sheds also serve as social hubs, reducing isolation and promoting mental well-being through shared learning and connection.
By establishing the Womenβs Shed Geraldton, we aim to bring these same benefits to our local community, creating an inclusive and supportive space where women can thrive.
